Daily Management System "DMS"
Real time decisions at all levels!
The Lean Daily Management System is comprised of standard processes and tools that allows company resources to mobilize a entire chain of command to improve operations. Continuous control, the key in DMS and Lean management allows organizations to eliminate sources of variations that occur as a result of traditional management practices and supervision. It aims to reduce reaction time to operational issues and to identify root causes in real time.
The implementation of a Lean Daily Management System follows these guiding principles:
- Work standardization: Each task is carried out the same way on all working shifts, based on the best known and shared practices in accordance with company training programs ("Training within industry").
- Daily control: Visual management tools such as monitoring boards, display of key performance indicators (KPI), and identified problems during a working shift. The controls are essential to maintain work standards and performance.
- The culture of disciplined supervision: The improvement of supervisors' management skills in order to better react to operational variations. Each individual has indepth knowledge of their territory and understands expectations which results in accountability.
- Daily communication: A standardized system for meetings including priority and objective setting as well as decision making which ensures common alignment towards objectives.
- Daily improvements: Problems must be managed quickly and effectively. Every day, regular feedback on improvements and actions taken to address issues must be made available and transparent to all members of the team.
